International family Chinese herb company, KPC, Inc, stopped by Portland in March for a visit with OCOM and had the opportunity to tour our new downtown clinic and campus. A company known for their commitment to sourcing and providing high quality Chinese herbs, KPC Herbs has formed the backbone of OCOM’s dispensary for years.

Jason Tsai, grandson of the company founder and US-based representative for the international company, and KPC’s Taiwan representative Emogene Huang  joined us in Old Town Chinatown for a walk through the new building, starting with the herbal dispensary. Located on the first floor, our new herbal dispensary is twice the size of the existing dispensary at our Cherry Blossom Clinic in southeast Portland. Large windows on the west side of the dispensary will create a beautifully naturally-lighted space, while floor to ceiling shelves along the north wall will be stocked with bulk and granular herbs, as well as tinctures, patent medicines and other herbal products for patients and walk-ins alike.

KPC traces their roots back five generations. According to their website: “In 1892, a young herb trader named Tsai Liang Hai landed in a southern Taiwanese village. Liang Hai set up a small herb shop committed to providing the highest quality of herbs to improve health of the villagers. He impressed villagers with his sincere dedication to the craft of fine herbs and as a result his reputation as an expert of herbs steadily grew. He passed his knowledge on to his descendants and the great grandsons of Tsai Liang Hai, a group of six brothers, who carried on this tradition. These six brothers brought the spirit of the shop into the next generation by continuing an unwavering focus on high quality and by using breakthroughs in technology to achieve a better extraction.”

Today, KPC herbs supplies superior Chinese herbs and herbal medicine products around the world.
