Description

Advanced Needling Techniques Practical Session: Using Classical Meridian Theory and Abdominal Palpation in Treatment
Wei Liu, BMed (Tianjin, PRC), LAc
(6.5 CEUs)

Presenting the format he perfected for OCOM doctoral modules, Wei Liu, LAc will teach a practicum on advanced needling techniques that will include both lecture and participant practice of demonstrated methods. It is designed for licensed practitioners only.

The foundation for this method of abdominal diagnosis is the eight I Ching trigrams. Professor Liu’s patient treatment plans are based on Ba Gua diagnosis and the application of Classical meridian theory. When the technique of Ba Gua abdominal diagnosis is perfected, other diagnostic methods -- including pulse palpation -- become secondary.

Ba Gua-style abdominal acupuncture not only effectively treats any pain problem, but is also an excellent choice for addressing internal problems, especially those of emotional origin. Ba Gua treatments focused on the abdomen access deeper levels of healing, re-balance the function of the internal organs and assist in the renewal of Qi Hua. Professor Liu will demonstrate needling techniques that stress both tonification and reduction. Although most needling will be abdominal, some distal points will be suggested.

Wei Liu will supervise participants in the Advanced Needling Techniques seminar as they practice the application of these methods with partners. Seminar participants who attended the April 18 seminar on Yin Style Bagua Tradition will have the opportunity to further reinforce the value of this treatment style.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM.
