Description

Acupuncture Treatment of Sports Injuries and Pain

Saturday: The Shoulder
Sunday: The Hip

With Whitfield Reaves, OMD, LAc

This seminar features the use of advanced acupuncture techniques in the treatment of pain and musculoskeletal disorders. Techniques include the tendino-muscle meridians, distal point strategies, empirical points, and trigger point therapy. The diagnosis and assessment of many common sports-related injuries will be covered, including precise instruction on palpation and orthopedic testing. After diagnosis, a systematic four-step approach is used as the “template” for all acupuncture treatment protocols. Common injuries will be covered. On Saturday, the shoulder, including rotator cuff injury, as well as several other upper extremity pain syndromes will be covered. On Sunday, the gluteal and hip pain will be discussed. A sampling of other lower extremity injuries will be covered, including plantar fasciitis and the patello-femoral joint.

The weekend will emphasis instruction and demonstration. However, each practitioner will have some hands-on opportunities for palpation, point location, and practice of the some orthopedic testing. This seminar is intended to increase your knowledge and confidence in the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of common injuries and pain syndromes seen in the clinic.

Having spent over two decades with Olympic and world-class athletes, Whitfield’s experience is invaluable for all those working with pain and sports injuries. The objective is to have the practitioner more informed about the diagnosis and assessment of injury as well as confident in their approach to treatment.

REGISTER for either Saturday, Sunday or both days.
