Information about your session at our website is automatically collected and stored if you browse, read pages or download information. This information does not identify you personally, but includes:

  1. The Internet Protocol (IP) address and domain name used. The IP address is a numerical identifier assigned either to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or directly to your computer. The IP address is used to direct Internet traffic to you. This address can be translated to determine the domain name of your service provider (for example, xcompany.com or yourschool.edu)
  2. The type of browser and operating system you used
  3. The date and time you visited this site
  4. The Web pages or services you accessed at this site
  5. The website you visited prior to this website
  6. The duration of your session at this website

The information collected or stored is logged and the aggregate data is used by OCOM to improve the content of our online services, improve security and to help us understand how people are using our services. OCOM reviews how the site is being used, so that we may improve the site's usefulness to the public.

If you communicate with OCOM using e-mail or via www.ocom.edu, the following additional information will be collected:

  1. The e-mail address and contents of those e-mails directed through www.ocom.edu.
  2. Information volunteered through an online form for any other purpose.

We use your e-mail to respond appropriately. This may be to respond to you, to address issues you may identify or to improve our website. Information from other online forms is used to enable college processes and services. We may use this information to contact you about college events or services.

Personal Information

You may choose whether to provide personal information online. Personal information is information about a natural person that is readily identifiable to that specific individual. Personal information includes an individual's name, address, and phone number. A domain name or IP address is not considered personal information.

We collect no personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us by sending us e-mail or completing an online form. You may choose not to contact us by e-mail or to provide any personal information using an online form. Your choice to not participate in these activities will not impair your ability to browse the OCOM website, read or download any information provided on the site.

If you believe that your personal information is being used for a purpose other than what was intended when submitted, contact the Webmaster as noted below.

We make every effort to preserve user privacy; however, we may disclose personal information when required or authorized by law.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to session information about the user. Secure Processing of your Credit Card Information

OCOM is committed to protecting your personal and financial data online. We use encryption technology to ensure that every transaction is safe and secure. When you press the submit button on pages where you are submitting credit card information, you will see a small lock near the bottom right corner of your browser. This lock indicates that your information is being sent via Secure Socket Layering (SSL), the 128-bit encryption that is the industry standard for securing sensitive information.

The process of encryption takes your credit card and other personal information and converts it into bits of code that are securely transmitted over the Internet. Once your encrypted personal information is received by our secure server, it is translated back into its original form and verified.
